Adding Value

Not only are floors affordable, but they also add value to your home if you are trying to sell it. In fact, as your home increases in value, so does the floor. A professionally installed floor is very sought after in a buyers market, as well as in home remodeling and new construction.Maintenance is as simple as using an area rug where traffic is heaviest, and/or floor protectors on all furniture. The use of a hardwood and/or tile floor cleaner is key to making sure it stays as beautiful as the day it was installed.

Dustless Floor Refinishing

Hardwood is perhaps the most practical of all flooring materials…….But over time, the protective finish may wear off, most noticeably in heavy traffic areas. This is the prime reason for refinishing a hardwood floor.

We provide an easy way to sand and refinish your hardwood floors. Applying a modern new finish can even make hardwood floors much easier to maintain than when they were originally installed.

Another benefit to refinish your hardwood floor is to freshen up the finish of a wood floor that’s dulled from being hidden under carpet for years. Another option with refinishing is changing the existing color of your floors to compliment your current style of decor.

Scotts Remodeling has the knowledge and experience to give your wood floors a quality new finish. We also have the finest equipment to handle the job efficiently, including continuous drum sanders to remove the existing finish and to prepare the wood to accept new stain. And most importantly, a dust collection system that attaches to every piece of sanding equipment for dust free floor refinishing.

How do I calculate the square footage of my room?

Once you know the dimensions of your space you can calculate the square footage by multiplying its length (in feet) by its width (in feet). Finding the square footage of an odd-shaped room or multiple rooms requires a few more math steps.

How can I tell if my installation was done well?

When it comes to flooring installation there are many mistakes that can happen during the process that can compromise the appearance and life span of your flooring. Whether you’re thinking of installing your own floor or hiring a professional, below are a few tips that will help you evaluate your flooring installation.

Quick tip: It’s important to note that repairs on installation mistakes are time-consuming and costly — all reasons to be careful when choosing your installer.

Hardwood installation:

WELL DONE:  Seams and end joints are close together, with no gaps. The hardwood will meet the walls snugly, without any edges showing.

POORLY DONE: The hardwood will show air bubbles, debris or dirt particles underneath the floor.

Laminate installation:

WELL DONE:  The joints of the floor will be securely locked together. Joints will be snug and have close-fitting seams with no separation or cracking.

POORLY DONE: The laminate will show frayed edges or shavings between the laminate floor boards.

Vinyl installation:

WELL DONE:  The vinyl floor will be smooth and won’t show any bumps or ridges. The vinyl floor will meet the walls snugly, without any edges showing.

POORLY DONE: The vinyl floor will show bubbles or waves underneath the surface.

Tile installation:

WELL DONE:  The tiles will be securely locked together with no separation or cracking. The tiles will be flat and even when you run your hand over the top.

POORLY DONE: The tile grout lines will be inconsistent.
